Winds of Change is a student-led project that is building a 1 kW wind turbine from scratch. The turbine will supply clean, free energy to a green space managed by the Cyrenians, a charity that fights homelessness in and around Edinburgh. We want to give students hands-on engineering experience and show that everyone can be involved in the green energy revolution. Throughout the project, we are creating a network of students, academics and professionals who are passionate about wind energy which can be used for future projects.
Our team of over 30 students is working hard to have the system ready for testing in Spring 2020. We are documenting our journey through our development blog. We hope this will inspire others to take on similar projects and give them a blueprint to help them on their way.
